Let’s get to work…
Reclaiming lives and communities through land and wood restoration.
What is The Reclaim Project?
The Reclaim Project partners with reentry programs to provide meaningful job training and employment in the construction field. Providing the crew of workers, we work with local communities to deconstruct (instead of demolishing!) abandoned housing stock, and the rescued materials are repurposed for resale and reuse.
Our Impact
-
RECLAIM: the lives of individuals.
Program participants learn high-valued skills in construction and find their niche on the Reclaim Project’s crew. Blighted housing stock is deconstructed piece by piece by the crew and reclaimed for future use, rather than demolished and sent to the landfill.
-
REPURPOSE: strengths & abilities to gain employment.
Rescued building material from the deconstructed homes is repurposed and sold to vendors specializing in green and reclaimed products. Program participants engage in meaningful employment, developing tangible leadership skills through the Reclaim Project.
-
RESTORE: self-respect and self-esteem.
Through the Reclaim Project, hope is restored to communities struggling with housing blight and jobs are created for those with barriers to employment. 90% less waste hits the landfill compared to demolition and for every $10 spent, there is $100 in community benefit.
